17th Annual Carney Fishing Festival
On a beautiful sunny day where the lake shined like a mirror (see photos), the Carney Pirates demonstrated excellent fishing skills as all competitors caught impressive size and quantity of bass. Evan Scott jumped out to an early lead catching the first two fish and never surrendered the overall quantity title. Matt Crouse and George Piccirilli caught a handful as the Prince William boys edged out the Fairfax County anglers by a razor thin margin. Doubleheader at McLean
On July 19 the Carney Pirates found themselves at McLean High School after big plans to travel North of Baltimore for a Maryland doubleheader. Those plans changed allowing our Pirates a bit more time for beauty sleep before meeting the McLean Raiders. It was a hot, steamy mid-July afternoon and we’ve got photos that show fans huddling in the shade while players were sweating in the field. Dave & Buster’s
With the Carney Pirates soon departing for the hallowed grounds of higher education, we know the guys will soon be locked into libraries studying the works of Chaucer, laboratories researching the nuances of quantum physics, and pulling all nighters in their dorm rooms solving problems of applied calculus, so it was nice to see the boys having a good time recently at Dave & Busters. Wrapping up an intense week of baseball the Carney Pirates players and families took some time to relax and burn some energy prior to the long trek back home. Atlanta Braves Game
All work and no play makes Carney Pirates a bunch of dull boys. During their time at the Wood Bat Tournament the Carney Pirates traveled to downtown Atlanta for a visit to Turner Field and to see the Atlanta Braves in a major league contest. Our favorite collegiate league players enjoyed the game, some stadium munchies and sightseeing of downtown Atlanta. Last Day of Spring
Westfield High School was the venue for a cloudy last-day-of-Spring contest as the Carney Pirates challenged the Barnstormers. This evening the Pirates sported, for the first time, their crisp, black uniform. The game ended early because of lightning on the horizon and the Pirates were ahead with a score of 3 to 2. Click here to see our set of photos at Flickr.com and then you can click this to see the photos in our Gallery page. Oh, yes - look for the photo of Jack Carney who joined Bill McMenamin to enjoy the game.
Home Game at PVI
The Carney Pirates took their home field at dusk on June 17 to host the DC Grays. Fans, friends and family stopped by the snack bar to fill-up on treats before they took their seats. The weather was baseball-perfect as the teams took the field where the Pirates patiently handled the Grays in a contest that ended with another Pirate victory and a final score of 8 to 6. Pirates Join PNC to Cheer Nats
Carney Pirates management executives invited by PNC Bank executives to see the Nationals take on the San Francisco Giants.
