Wednesday “Maybe Game”
Published: July 26th, 2009 10:15PM
If the Carney Pirates (29-9), who on Sunday finished their regular season by defeating the So.Md. Cardinals 6-1 (stats and details above), find themselves tied with the Vienna Senators, there will be a one-game playoff at Paul VI on Wednesday, July 29. This game would determine the regular-season CGL champion, a valuable title due to the attractive draw for the #1 team (see Tournament News below) . Currently the Senators (27-9) have two games left, they lost to the Cardinals (16-19) Sunday 5-3 after the Pirates victory. If the Senators win their last two games, the playoff will likely be 7pm unless the weather forecast encourages us to play at 5pm. Stay tuned for last-minute schedule tweaks!
Be sure to see the Tournament News article below for schedule details about the upcoming tournament. The pairings are meaningful. This season, each CGL team beat each other at least once, the Pirates were the only team to win every series against all other teams.
