The Carney Pirates (27-9) met the Fairfax Nationals (14-18) for the last time this CGL season and sailed away with a 7-2 win.  Carney Pirates pitcher Brad Wimmer (Frederick JUCO) pitched 5 shut-out innings, Reed Bromley (Tennessee Wesleyan) went 2 shut-out innings, Torey Mancari (Mary Washington) pitched the 8th inning and gave up the only National run, Mike Manfro (Greensboro) stepped in to close the game.  All in all the Pirate pitchers allowed 9 hits, 1 run, and 5 strike-outs.  Most impressive was between Pirate pitching and defense, the Nationals left 12 runners on base.

Pirate offense was lead again by a Snyder, this time Mike (Ole’ Miss) went 2-4, HR, 3RBI, George Piccirilli (VMI) went 2-3, and Matthew Murakami (Maryland) went 2-3, RBI.  Tim McCormick (St. John’s) Tpl with a RBI, Alex Guerra (Radford) Dbl, RBI and singles were provided by Rob Lamas (Radford) RBI  and Chad Morgan (Virginia Tech).

The Pirates play Thursday, July 23 at Nellis Stadium against the Fairfax Nationals.  Game time is 7:00 pm.
