Carney Pirates (24-9) finished a Friday double-header on July 17 at Maury Wills Field in DC with two victories, first by a one-run difference and then with a shut-out against the DC Grays (10-18). The first game saw a total of 45 hits and both teams crossed the plate a total of 25 times — 12 times for the Grays and 13 times for the Pirates. The second game was more of a pitching duel with a final score of 4 to zero. Connor Mielock pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts while allowing just two hits for the second contest.
