Pirates Break Away from Cardinals

The Carney Pirates broke away (20-8) from the Southern Maryland Cardinals (12-15) on Monday, July 13 with a final score of 7 to 1. Pirate pitchers Chris Yates (William and Mary) went 7 innings, giving up 1 run, 5 hits and 3 strikeouts. Adam Young (Lafayette) shut-out the Cardinals in the last 2 innings.
Though the Cardinal pitchers struck out 9, the Pirate bats recorded 7 hits and 6 walks making each one count. Jake Huxtable (Central Florida) went 3-4, with 2 RBI’s. Singles were by Rob Lamas (Radford) RBI, Mike Snyder (Ole’ Miss) RBI, Chad Morgan (Virginia Tech) RBI, and John Ralston (Rider).
The Pirates play tonight @ Nellis Stadium against the Fairfax Nationals. Game time is 5:00 pm.
