The Carney Pirates (19-8) finished a sunny Sunday with a victory against the Fairfax Nationals (10-16) and a final score of 6 to 4. Pirate pitcher Connor Mielock (Oakland) gave up 11 hits, 4 runs in 6 innings. Middle Relief Tory Mancari (Mary Washington) pitched 2 no hitter innings, and closer Mike Manfro (Greensboro College) saw only 3 batters.
The Pirate bats produced only 5 hits but they were meaningful. Chad Morgan (Virginia Tech) had his 1 HR (in the park) with 3 RBI’s. Matt Snyder (Ole’ Miss) and George Piccirilli (VMI) both had singles along with RBI’s. Tim McCormick (St. John’s) also had a single.
Great defensive plays which included several pick-offs, contributed the Pirate win.
