Carney Pirates (18-8) completed a doubleheader on July 11 splitting the wins with the Southern Maryland Cardinals (12-14). The Cardinals blanked the Pirates in the first game with a score of 3 to zero. Pirates then blanked the Cardinals in the second game with a final score of 4 to zero.

In Game 1 the Pirate pitcher staff of Pat Somers (ECU), Reed Bromley (Tennessee Wesleyan) and Adam Young (Lafayette) gave up 6 hits.   The Pirate bats could only produce 5 hits.  Zach Costello (Radford) went 2-3, with additional singles by Jake Huxtable (Central Florida), George Piccirilli (VMI), and Rob Lamas (Radford).

In Game 2 Tyler McElhenny (Christopher Newport) pitched a 7 inning game shut out.  Tyler allowed only 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.  The Pirate bats were able to produce 8 hits, lead by Matt Snyder (Ole’ Miss) went 1-3, 2 RBI’s, Dbl by Tim McCormick (St. John’s),  singles by  Zach Costello (Radford), Alex Guerra (Radford), Chad Morgan (Virginia Tech), Michael McMenamin (Virginia Tech), Reed Bromley (Tennessee Wesleyan),  and Brett Bowers (ECU).
