Carney Pirates (17-7) defeated the Fairfax Nationals (8-14) on Thursday, July 9 with a final score of 5 to zero. Pirate Pitcher Matt Crouse (Ole’ Miss) pitched a 6 inning shut out allowing only 1 hit with 6 strikeouts. Brad Wimmer (Frederick JUCO) stepped in and continued the shut out for the next 3 innings, allowing 2 runs and 2 strikeouts.
The “hot” bats of the Pirates returned, producing 11 hits. Matt Snyder (Ole’ Miss) went 4-5, 2 RBI’s, 2 Runs. Mike Snyder (Ole’ Miss) went 2-4, Trp1, 2 RBI’s. Singles were provided by Chad Morgan (Virginia Tech) (2), RBI, Matthew Murakami (Maryland), Zach Costello (Radford) and Reed Bromley (Tennessee Wesleyan).
