Pirates Participate in 2009 CGL All-Star Game

Eight Carney Pirate players along with some of the Pirate Coaching staff participated Sunday, July 5th, in the 2009 Joe Branzell All-Star Game and Home Run Derby at Waters Field in Vienna, VA. The game showcased players from the Clark Griffith League and the Maryland Collegiate Baseball League. Pirate Head Coach Billy Emerson, was Manager of the CGL All-Star team, and was assisted by Pirate personnel, Tony Salgado and Paul Pagnato. Pirate Pitchers were: Mike Manfro (Greensboro College), Matt Crouse (Ole’ Miss), Chris Yates (William and Mary) and Connor Mielock (Oakland University). Pirate Position Players were: Michael McMenamin (Virginia Tech), Matthew Murakami (Maryland), Mike Snyder (Ole’ Miss), and George Piccirilli (VMI). Mike Snyder had a big day. Not only did he participate in the Home Run Derby, but during the All-Star game, he went 2-2, with a HR, 2 RBI’s, and 2 Runs. The CGL All-Star Team came out on top with a 10-6 win.
