Double Heartbreak for the Pirates

The Southern MD Cardinals (6-7) took both games in a double header with the Carney Pirates (8-4) with a 4-3 win in game 1 and a 2-1 win in game 2. The Carney Pirate pitchers gave up 11 hits total during the DH. In game 1, Juan Ramon (Baltimore City JUCO) pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits, 3 runs, 5 strikeouts, and Brad Wimmer (Frederick JUCO), completed the 9 innings game giving up 3 hits, 1 run, 3 strikeouts. In game 2, Mike Mitchell (St. John’s) went 5 innings, giving up 2 hits, 1 run, 3 strikeouts, with Mike Manfro (Greensboro College) closing out the last 2 innings with 2 hits, 1 run.
Cardinal pitchers held the Pirates to 12 hits total during the DH. Highlights for Game 1 were: Mike Snyder (Ole’ Miss) went 3-4, with a HR, RBI, Run, George Piccirilli (VMI) Dbl, and singles by Matthew Murakami (Maryland), RBI, Zach Costello (2) (Radford), and Reed Bromley (Tennessee Wesleyan). Highlights for Game 2 were: George Piccirilli, Dbl, RBI, singles by Matthew Murakami (Maryland), John Ralston (Rider), and Brett Bowers (ECU).
