Deal, or No Deal?

A Carney Pirate corporate exec had a good evening the other night while playing cards.
After winning all of the cash a book publisher had brought, the Carney Pirate accepted books in lieu of payment. The Pirate organization will keep the books on Astrophysics
and Brain Surgery for light reading at the corporate headquarters. We will gladly distribute the five copies of
Heads Up Baseball that we collected as payment. This is a terrific book which highlights a tremendous opportunity for you and teaches you how to craft a competitive advantage maximizing your athletic skills. Knowing that to many of you, books are like Kryptonite,
we are not forcing anything on anybody. The first five guys who drop a note to the player personnel guy saying that they would like a copy and commit to actually reading it, will be given a copy. The book makes several key points and shows you how to excel:
1) Take personal responsibility for your mental game – focus and awareness is a key
2) You don’t outgrow ignorance. Just because you get older doesn’t mean you’ll get smarter (see Carl Everett/baserunning & dinosaurs).
3) Play the game one pitch at a time. Easier said than done, but the best do – think Jeter, Suzuki.
4) Have a ‘next base’ mentality. At the high levels you are approaching, every play might be a big play.
5) Work on the mental part of your game. Common sense isn’t so common.
SUMMARY: When all is said and done about playing Heads Up Baseball, more is said than done.
